AD Ceuta has achieved a historic goal by returning to professional football after 45 years, with a season that has left its mark on the club's history. The team, led by a trident of work formed by Luhay Hamido, president; Edu Villegas, head of the sports department; and José Juan Romero, coach, has climbed to the top of the table, even fantasizing about the play-off, winning a total of 17 games and raising their casillero above 60 points. But, beyond the numbers, what has been gained is the recognition, respect and admiration of a whole country that is already starting to see Ceuta, and Ceuta, as a reference point on the map for its attractive power and its character of hospitality. Luhay Hamido, president of the entity, has visited this week the set of El Faro de Ceuta to review the keys of a historic season for AD Ceuta in its return to professional football. A wonderful season for all. Luhay, congratulations before anything else… Many thanks. The goal has been achieved after 45 years, which was a great challenge, with everything that it implied: the reform in the stadium, a very low salary limit, the lowest in the category, and a lot of pressure, but very happy to have achieved the goal. Additionally, with a margin, 21 points from relegation. We stayed 11 points from the play-off, 11th place tied with Sporting and Córdoba. I think it has been a season to be happy at all levels, as a club, as a city, as a ceutí, as a fan, and already count back again to start again. How have you personally lived your first experience as president of a football team? With a lot of responsibility and pressure, because what had been supposed after 45 years could not be dropped in a year. The first year, after the expectations generated and the illusion that it made, had to fight it with everything and thanks to God the things have come out well. At first, a lot of stress and anxiety and then the daily nerves, the daily party, the responsibility of having to fulfill everyone, of continuing to generate illusion, the new generations that have been animating... It is true that at first it was hard, but then, as the season has been given and the results have been accompanying, we have enjoyed a lot. The same responsibility that when I was in Third Division, but obviously already 10 years of experience and one in the Professional Football League. There are many differences. You have to keep your essence and your way of managing, but this already professionalizes as when you go from high school to university. You have to study more, get your batteries charged and be more attentive, and that's what I've tried to do. I've learned a lot this year. The start was indeed complicated. The team struggled to get started, despite which everything started to straighten out afterwards. What was the key that made everything start to change? It was hard, but not only because of that, because since we accessed we didn't stop. We did a six-month work and executed it in one and a half. That was a madness, and then besides we had to assemble the team, get to know the category, reorganize the structures, and that took time. But, despite everything, the team has grown and matured, and that's what has allowed everything to come out well.
